Our history

Chemie.DE Information Service GmbH was founded in June 2000, resulting from a research project at Berlin's Free University (FU Berlin).

The information portal www.Chemie.DE was launched in March 1997 as part of an information services project, based at the FU Berlin, of the Association for the Promotion of a German Research Network ("Verein zur Förderung eines Deutschen Forschungsnetzes e.V.") and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Its aim was to accumulate and structure the wealth of chemistry-related information in the internet and to make it available to the industry. Within three years of the project's inception, www.Chemie.DE had become a leading online information service for the chemical industry.

In June 2000, the project spun off the Chemie.DE Information Service GmbH, which is located in Berlin (Germany). Chemie.DE operates and markets numerous online information services and newsletters for the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries, demonstrating that the company has progressed to become a leading provider of information for these industries. The company also develops innovative software technologies for searching and processing information. Based on its unique expertise in managing, structuring and extracting information, the company devises intelligent software solutions that help classify, evaluate, filter, structure and process digital information. It also develops innovative portal technologies and retrieval systems.

Chemie.DE Information Service GmbH currently has a workforce of 23, serving more than 2,000 customers worldwide.
